Every day, healthcare professionals across America bring extraordinary skill, resilience, and commitment to one of the most dangerous and demanding work environments in any industry. Their frontline experiences carry real insight–about what works, what doesn't, and what the healthcare community as a whole could learn if only there were a purposeful space to share them.

Frontline Healthcare Stories is our initiative to gather firsthand accounts from nurses, physicians, technicians, security professionals, and others who work—or have worked—on the frontlines of healthcare. We are looking for two kinds of stories:

Stories Behind the Statistics: Accounts that bring context and humanity to what the data already tells us: that workplace violence in healthcare is pervasive and consequential. These stories help others understand the reality of the problem—and often surface the insights, instincts, and hard-won lessons that only experience can teach.

Prevention and Success Stories: Accounts of situations where communication, training, teamwork, policy, or technology made a difference. These are the stories that show what's possible—and give other organizations and professionals strategies and tactics for doing better.

Here's how it works:

  1. Select your story type and complete the brief form below.

  2. If your story is selected, a member of our team will reach out to schedule a short follow-up conversation and interview.

  3. All submissions are held in strict confidence.

  4. Publication occurs only with your explicit approval.

  5. OPTICS maintains full editorial responsibility for all published stories.

  6. There are no fees of any kind.
